nervous and afraid to upgrade to new OS for AT&T

    Hi all,
I noticed a while back that there is an OS upgrade for AT&T (I'm currently on V4.2.0.73). I haven't gotten around to upgrading because I'm afraid of losing applications, info, and errors in general. Has anyone had problems after upgrading to the newest version? I'm wondering if it's worth all the trouble.
    Thanks for any advice.

Try this one but be aware that you should back up your applications, etc to Desktop Manager's Backup/Restore before upgrading. http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ile_4_2_a.html

    Install Desktop Manager
    Install the OS
    Delete vendor.xml
    Open My Computer>Program Files>Common Files>Research In Motion>Shared>Loader>8100-v4.2.1.103_P2.3.0.82.
Right click on the "Blackberry.alx" and select
"Open with" and select notepad or wordpad.
Change all 8100 vendor codes to 102.
    Save the changes.
    Connect BB to DM.
    Open Application Loader.
    New OS should be detected.
Let it load (can take up to 1 hour). The BB will restart on its own. The nice thing about this OS is that you don't have to open DM again to reload your previously saved apps. They will be loaded for you.

If anything, T-Mobile OSes are probably worse than AT&Ts.

My phone came with AT&T .64 I believe so thats older than yours and I upgraded to their latest .96 version. I have no problems at all and everything works as the phone is intended to.

Re: nervous and afraid to upgrade to new OS for AT&T

I would suggest the AT&T .96 or the Austria .101. I am an AT&T customer, both platforms are much faster and improve a lot of little things in the OS compared to .73.

If you do a backup prior to installing the OS, you won't have any problems. And if you decide that you don't like the new OS, you can always downgrade and go back.

Its nerve wracking the first time you do it, because you're new to it. But after you're done you'll wonder what all the fuss is about.

Just remember, it DOES take a little time to complete, and there will be 5-10-15 minute stretches of White Screen (with no other apparent activity) on your BB, and you'll be convinced you did something wrong. Just leave it alone and let it do its thing. My last OS upgrade took almost 45 minutes to finish.

How long did you have to wait though for the flawless OS? I can say that the AT&T OS has been problem-less for quite a long time. Ringer volume issues, dropped calls, dissappearing texts, etc have not been a problem for me on AT&T.
