My pearl is really scaring me!

I got a new blackberry pearl from the UAE. Since it was locked, i was forced to purchase an unlock code. This took about a week and so i kept the blackberry in a drawer.
The unlock code came in a few hours ago and i quickly grabbed the pearl to enter the code. The battery seemed to be dead so i connected it via USB to my pc. To my horror, all i got was a battery icon with a red diagonal line through it.
Flashing the pearl with Apploader didnt get me anywhere. It kept on failing at the Reconnecting to JVM step and throwing up the "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage loadoperation"
Tried wiping with JL_Cmder but it refused to connect. Right now i am really going out of my mind with this. Can any one help with some advice? cant see my way out of this.

p.s. I tried to turn it on with 2 other pearl batteries, and the same icon popped up.....

Hello, one thing about PC power, It is only what the PC has left over. You would be better off pluging it in to the wall charger for awhile. the PC will have a hard time if the battery is supper low or dead.

    hiroprotagon,

I believe that the symbol you describe normally means that the device does not recognize that a battery is installed. The unable to reconnect message you are getting also indicates a power issue.

Now if your battery was completely dead and/or your power supply was questionable I would not be as worried, however the fact that 2 known working batteries did not solve the issue is concerning, and I suspect a hardware issue. I am going to ask Amigo Tek to take a look at this thread and see if he can offer some suggestions.

Be sure and post back any changes.

Sorry I got Side tracked, The not working with 2 known working batterys, makes it sound like a device charging port issue. I would call for a warranty from the provider.

Checking with my hardware tech, he is thinking that it sounds like the phone may have gotten moisture internally on it. The issue you are describing with the results you are getting could indicate that the phone doesn't recognize that the battery is installed. Normally as has been said it means that the battery is fully dead or no longer functioning but since you have tried two different batteries on it and recieved the same screen we now need to look at the hardware. Your mentioning that DM sees the phone and will begin loading the software indicates that the charging port is good and that the internal chipset is still communicating with the comp. The charging system may have failed but that would have been eliminated by the change of batteries provided the other two batteries were charged up. Since you just got this unit I would check with the original seller (not sure who UAE is) and see what kind of warranty they provide. I would push them on the warranty issue also since you have had it less than a month. There is a possibility that the unit could be repaired but that possibility is slim depending on what actually caused the damage. It may not be liquid and could be a complete failure in the chips that control charging and communication with the battery. I would also check all the battery contacts in the phone and make sure that they are not bent or misshaped in any manner.

Have you checked your charging system since you got the good battery in it?

To clarify things, I dismantled the blackberry, cleaned and washed the PCB with a cleaning solution. Fortunately for me, i run a fone unlocking shop, so i have all the tools necessary. I also cleaned the contacts and then put the device back together. I then put in my buddy's fully charged battery and prayed. Viola! the phone booted up with the standard error screen, the circle with the rectangle in the middle. Hehe. As i am writing, i am in the middle of a flash.

P.S. The software upgrade is done and its in the middle of the first boot. Waiting to see what happens.....

P.S. By UAE i meant the United Arab Emirates....Wish the UAE were my friends.... all that oil money....

P.S. Damn! this thing takes forever to boot up!

P.S. Finally! Done booting, and unlocked too! Gr8!

    Thanks guys
