Micro SD Card suddenly stopped working... please help

    Hi everyone!

I just got my Blackberry Pearl 8100 about 3 weeks ago and love the little thing.

I went out an bought a Kenzington (I believe) 2 GB Micro SD card from Future Shop immediately after opening the box. I have had no problems since.

This morning, I woke up as usually to my ring tone (that is held on the card) and left the phone sitting beside my laptop all day. I'm on vacation and haven't needed the phone, so it has not moved from that spot.

I just went to take a picture, and it says the media card cannot be found. So I looked at my music, and it was gone. Tried to get through Media Manager and had no option for a card. I looked under Advanced > Media Card, and it said I do not have one installed.

I tried taking it out and putting it back in... no help.

I then tried looking at it through BB Manager... doesn't see it.

    Please help!!!!

Thank you very much in advance.

do you have a memory card reader at your computer?

Place it there and try to access it, if no go. reformat the card. If still no go. Go back to the store with it.

I've got a 2gb Kingston micro sd card, but had to format it in my laptop in order to get access to it.

I have the same kingston card going on 2nd year. Make sure your lining it up inside the phone, be sure to lock it down.

    2) Use the card expander that came with it and use a card reader. If it doesn't come up on you desktop, My computer, the card maybe dead.

What computer OS are you using Win XP? What Phone OS?

    Sorry bud, hope it works.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
Add to the above, this addition:

    1. If the computer area the card, move the files, reformat the card, move files back.

    2. Check the card for errors, frequently, & also defragment the files. The OS doesn't read a badly fragmented card.

I used to have that problem until I started checking/dedragging the card. Now, roughly four months later, no problems, whatsoever.

I hope you will be as lucky as I've been, and this will work.

Thank you everyone... I get home this afternoon so I can try using the card reader.

I am using Windows Vista on my laptop, and BB OS 4.22.1.94 (Rogers).

I hope these suggestions work! Will update tomorrow.

    freak,

Before we look too deep....please note that if you have Mass Storage Enabled and you are connected to your desktop your phone will not have SD card access. Is this possibly the cause of your issue?
