    Message Save

I've noticed the the "Save" option under my e-mail messages. My question is what does this do exactly other than show up in the save folder? Does it prevent it from being deleted if I reconcile with my mailbox and it has been deleted there? Also, is there a way to unmark it as saved without deleting it?

This is an option for the BES that ultimately has no effect unless you are using a BES. It just puts it in the saved folder as you said. On a BES yes it would keep it partitioned when you would wirelessly reconcile, but since there is not true 2 way reconciliation on BIS it just sticks it in another folder.

    Re: Message Save

I'm not positive, but I think saving a message makes a copy somewhere, possibly on the SIM card. I say this because you can save a message, the delete it from you message list and once deleted, View Saved Messages and it can be read. Don't know what happens to attachments though. I don't normally save emails only Text messages I want to keep, but don't want cluttering up my active messages.

    Hope this helps.

I'm not sure about this. I do know one thing, there is no Saved messages folder. The view saved messages list is different than View folders.
    Also see my previous post.

Ok so it may not actually be another folder, ( kinda like the extra icons for email) but it distinguishes the saved messages from the rest of the messages and you can create a shortcut on your home screen. Unless i am completely misunderstanding your post ( which is a very real possibility)

    Re: Message Save

This is from the Pearl user guide, it looks like you can flag older messages to prevent them auto-deleting if your memory gets full:

"If your BlackBerry® device memory is full, your device deletes the oldest messages from a message list. Your device does not delete saved messages."

As I said in my first post, it creates a copy somewhere on the BB either in device memory or on the SIM, not just moving it as filing does. You can save an emai and also file the original. (BIS 1.8 or BES only) and yes some Core App versions have a Saved Messages Icon.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but is there anyway to unsave an email? The only menu option I see is to delete. In this case it is sync'd with a gmail account and delete will erase in both locations I believe.

Yes, go to "View Saved Messages" and delete it there, the prompt will say, "Delete message" instead of the the prompt asking "Deleting on Handheld or mailbox." As long as the message was still in your original messages, it will be there, and even have the ability to save it again.

It does save it on the sim card or phone. However, I have had to wipe/restore my phone 2x in the last 3 weeks and all of my saved messages are gone.

    Erica,
That just points out the need for frequent periodic backups.
