    Memory Leak

I hate to be an idiot here but how can you tell if you have a memory leak. It seems like my memory is going down each day. I have deleted off the sms messages and cleared the cache on the browser and it is still going down. Could it be the OS. Thanks in advance.

Yes some OS versions are known to cause memory leaks.

    Re: Memory Leak

Get the most up to date OS from your carrier (or Hong Kong CSL or whatever it's called, they're usually more current). Then any third party apps you have installed, install them one at a time, and test it for a day or so with each new app. That will narrow down the OS, or if it's caused by a specific app.

T-Mo Czech Republic is the most recent. http://updateservice.t-mobile.net/bl...?servcoid=TMCZ

To find the OS, Click "Free Download Area" on left, click "Devices" folder, click "RIM Devices" folder, click "8100" folder and find the link on the next page.

    Re: Memory Leak

I have had similar issue with my pearl but as soon as I do a hard reset my memory amount returns to normal. So at least once every three days I yank the battery to refresh it.

    Re: Memory Leak

Thanks for all the replies. I actually have the TMobile 103 OS and although it seems to be running ok, my memory is always going down. So i am thinking of going back to one of the other OS's and seeing if that helps. I have never on any OS's had any emails or sms messages to disappear. I am also right at this moment knocking on real wood lol.

    Re: Memory Leak

I have this problem too and found the answer - RIM knows about it (KB13814). They claim that if you use the app switcher (Alt-Esc) about 25 times, a memory leak starts. The only work around is a hard reset (remove the battery). This particular leak is specific to the Curve.

According to the article, "This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available."
