    Media Card Problem

I transferred about 25 songs onto my 1 gig Media Card via my laptop, took about 10 minutes to do so...when I check for the songs now on my phone, the media card doesnt show up at all but when I plug it back into the computer it see's all my pictures, ringtones, videos, and songs that are on the media card...why doesn't the phone detect the media card anymore but the computer can?

I have tried to take the battery out and wait a few minutes and turn it back on

I have tried to take the memory card out, turn it on, turn it off, media card back in...

I looked in the settings and the media card option is turned on...

    any help?

Update, also says Media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted. (It was working fine before the upload of music...)

10 minutes sounds like a long time for 25 songs. I'd try to format it again. What kind of card is it?

I know you said that you can't even see the card but you may also want to verify that the files you uploaded to the card are MP3s. The Pearl does not "see" any files other than MP3s.

How do I reformat the card? It now says:

The media card is not available because Mass Storage Mode is currently in use.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Go to options/advanced options/media card/ hit menu and chose format card.

Then when you upload songs make sure they are in mp3 format.

    Re: Media Card Problem

They were all in mp3 format, it was 64 files not 25...we'll see if it works this time...

Its a 2.0 Gb SanDisk MicroSD

I am now transferring the 64 files again, gonna take about 10 minutes it says...we'll see what happens.

Also when you check the media card in your BB make sure the USB cable is not connected to your BB. If it's connected it won't show the media card.

I'm not sure if it's a OS problem, I'm using .71 from Cingular. You could try it. Just make sure you do a backup before going back.

    Re: Media Card Problem

Okay so...I reformatted the Media Card like 100 times, finally saw that the phone detected it...AWESOME. I then opened up DM and I am transferring those 64 files again, looks like its gonna take quite some time using this slow crappy program...why can't I just drag and drop them in like a mass storage device? Everytime I do it that way the phone stops detecting the Media Card...

    Re: Media Card Problem

Try it this way for the media card settings:

    Media Card Support: On
    Encryption Mode: None
    Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable Mass Storeage Mode when connected: Prompt

This way you have the option to turn the mass storage mode on when you plug it in. I drag and drop files all the time and use a SanDisk 2 GB card as well and don't have any issues. The biggest tip I have it make sure that your putting the music into the /blackberry/music folder...for some reason with out that BB folder there the Media card and bb don't get along...
