    Mass Storage problems

I just bought a 2gb MicroSD card for my Blackberry Pearl (it's an unlocked t-mobile one).

Using desktop manager, it won't show up in the roxio media manager.
I've turned on mass storage and windows won't detect it either. I've also played with the auto mass storage and set it on, off, and prompt. Trying it in separate computers still yeilds nothing, windows only detects the blackberry device but not the mass storage.

The battery and card have also been in and out several times and I've gone through the entire rim documentation site and tried everything it said as well - several times.

Is something physically wrong with my blackberry? Is this a computer issue? Will wiping the blackberry with the JL program then reloading it fix this?

    someone help!

EDIT: I forgot to say that the card works without issue in the blackberry, i can save to and read from it just fine with the media manager. Although when I installed it the blackberry never auto-detected it and asked me what to do with it, some people say this should happen?

I'd rate myself pretty advanced with electronics, it's been formated about 100 different times in 100 days ways and still nothing

I would have presumed that if the BB can read the memory card that it wouldn't affect the mass storage abilities?

a desktop manager reinstall won't change much, it's the mass storage i want to fix, theoretically that should just work on any computer without the BB software. thx for the input though, anyone else have anything for me to try?

I had the same problems. What are you trying to do with your card?

Since the BB is essentially acting as the interface for the card, you need to have the Desktop Manager (which includes BB drivers installed). My first guess is your BB's OS. The latest OS has support for up to 4GB, and I know when I first got my Pearl, it would only officially support 1GB. Make sure you have the most up to date software from your carrier.

    Re: Mass Storage problems

Ok...reading through all your posts I'm pretty confused. Your giving conflicting information. It doesn't work in the media manager, then it does, but then it doesn't work in mass storage? Completely confusing.

First off as tech savy as you are, when asking for help please respect the people that are trying to help you. Pretty sure that Siccmade was doing his best to help.

So let us start from the beginning. Do you have all the required software installed on your PC to have the BB be detected.

    1. Desktop Manager 4.2 or 4.3
    2. Handheld Software that is current for your Device.
Here is a list to choose from: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...f_29jan08.html

If you have that all installed and your PC is not prompting you to with the detecting and installing new device bubbles and the connecting and disconnecting sound something is wrong.

We'll start there and hopefully that fixes your issue, if not post back and we will get to the bottom of it.

Also please update your profile with your device details for us so we can better assist
    you with your problems here.
I realize by your post you have a Pearl.
Another thing you can check is what your media settings are on on device.
I'm on an 8310 and here are mine:

    Your settings should be similar.

    Re: Mass Storage problems

media manger does not find it, I didn't say it did anywhere

OS is up to date, both on the blackberry and my desktop computer
desktop manger has been freshly installed as well (on two computers to test this)

I just read around and it's exactly the same problem this user is having: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com..._problems.html

at least i'm not alone! haha

    Re: Mass Storage problems

    mind,

Frustrating, I know...I would like to confirm a few things as well please....

The card is accessible to read and write on your phone. The card was formated using the FORMAT CARD command on your phone. You have mass storage enabled. The card is not visible the the DESKTOP MANAGER/MEDIA MANAGER application. I assume then that in this post you refer the the media application on your phone:
"EDIT: I forgot to say that the card works without issue in the blackberry, i can save to and read from it just fine with the media manager. Although when I installed it the blackberry never auto-detected it and asked me what to do with it, some people say this should happen?"

Have you attempted to read the sd card directly with your computer? And have you tried the different suggestion in ed scotts thread (check for encryption software, update drivers)

This sounds very familiar. Hopefully whatever works in this thread might help me out, too...

    @ mindabsence

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your phone?

Edit: Whoops! Looks like you already linked to my other thread! Me = Bad. But hey, it's a Friday!
