Yeah. My friend has some sort of diagnostic tools we're gonna try and use to figure out if it's a software limitation or something to do with the hardware. We're also gonna try a media card swap while we're at it, to cover all the bases.

    Re: Mass Storage Mode Problems

Hey ed_scott0013, funny thing. I am having the EXACT Problem. I got my phone brand new off of ebay with no contract and it was unlocked, and haven't had ANY problems with it, except that it my computer, or media manager doesn't read it. I really wanted to know how to fix this so I have been calling tmobile customer support for the past 3 days and they still haven't found out what is wrong with my phone, I'm going to keep trying too.

    Re: Mass Storage Mode Problems

lol, i have talked to T-Mobile for 3 days and I have actually tried EVERYTHING. I've done so much that they said to return my phone and get a new one or use the little USB Memory Stick to put data on my phone. I don't think there is a solution to this problem.

I may have a solution actually!

Go to options, then advanced options, then media card, and make sure media card support is on, encryption mode is off, mass storage mode is on, and the last one off.

By the sound of it maybe your pearl just doesn't "want" to read it? Get back here if it does or doesn't fix it.

Would like to know what came of this?

Experiencing the same symptoms, I have tried everything as well.

ed scott0013 - did you end up doing those tests on the device?

    8100 Mass Media Problem Solved

I just registered to tell everyone that this thread helped me solve the problem (for the most part), and wanted to share my experience for the benefit of others who've had this same problem.

I had the exact same problem as the OP.

    Quick Background
    - I have an unlocked T-Mobile 8100 refurbed
    - I have a 2GB microSD card
    - The card works fine in my PC
    - The card works fine in my BB
    - I have upgraded to the latest .OS (.109)
    - I was originally running the latest desktop manager software (4.3)

    Problem
    - The mass media mode would not work
    - I could not get a prompt or get it to assign a drive letter on my PC
    - I also had only "Device Memory" displayed in the media manager

    Solution
    - I did a clean uninstall of the BB software from my PC (http://www.intermedia.net/support/kb/default.asp?id=978)
    - I installed Desktop Manager 4.2 (Service Pack 1) from www.blackberry.com

I left Mass Media support on and connected my device, still got no prompt. But... when I went to the media manager, it recognized both the device memory and media card. I can now transfer files to my BB without removing the battery or using Bluetooth.

My hunch is that the OS does not matter, but the older desktop manager software made the difference. I hope this helps some people who've experienced similar frustrations.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    @dyckie,

I haven't tried the tests yet. I've been fairly busy these past couple of weeks (just moved to a new place) so I've been running like a chicken with its head cut off...

    @ iquabob,

Sounds like an interesting suggestion. I'll try it out when I get a chance.

    @ kingrykku27,

I've tried all permutations of the available settings to no avail.

    Hi ed_scott0013,

I have the same exact problem with you. I have an 8320 which I bought it unlocked on ebay. I've tried everything and still no luck. I have a feeling that somewhere in the unlocking process mess the mass storage part. I'm not giving up yet. Please let me know if you find an answer.

    Thanks!

Hot dog! We have a wiener!

I did what iquabob suggested, and now the media manager recognizes the media card in the phone! Now I can transfer goodies to and from the card without messing with the battery or extracting the card.

The conversion options available with the Roxio Media Manager (convert files/music/video etc) are no longer available, but at least I can make do with what I have. Anyone know of a good media converter that will convert my videos into Pearl friendly formats?

    ed,

    Glad to see progress!

Download Seabryds Blackberry Video Converter from our DL section on Pinstack. I used that before Roxio with good success.
