Ok have tmobile, which means no roaming or long distance. I'm in California now. And usually Illinois. If a friend calls me and I answer will that be long distance for them or not?

    Re: long distance?

If your TMO number is IL and your friend calls you from IL and it's not long distance to your cell number, then no they won't be charged.

Why would you switch? All carriers roam somewhere.....A friend of mine on Cingular spends more time roaming than not around here.

    Re: long distance?

If you have TMO's National Plan, even though you may be roaming, you don't get charged. For people calling you, it's not where your phone currently is, it's where your phone's home base is.
