Question Locking Individual Features of BB Pearl 8100.

I'm sorry to be redundant about this issue mentioned before, but is anyone aware of any kind of programs or qwirks in the 8100's software that could allow strangers from viewing my texts and pics? I have a very snoopy friend that I catch going through my phone if I set it down for more than 30 seconds. Great person, just nosey. If anyone could help me or point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you! BTW, this is my first post. So I'm still learning the formalities.

there is no app for this but here is a good work around. set a device password and in your security options change the setting to allow calls when the device is locked. so then you can still access your address book and make calls and the rest of the device including your sms are locked. thats the best i can think of

Thanks Virex, I appreciate the help! Maybe this will discourage my snooping friend.

Enable the keyboard lock (password) like Virex suggested. A good idea for any smartphone user, even without "known" nosey friends. I've found that most people can't help themselves if you let them pick it up and play around with it.

You can also download the "Filelock" utility (Jeffallen8 has a thread for it on here) that will allow you to lock individual files and folders.

3 years ago, I could care less if you picked up my phone and looked at it. All it had were phone numbers in it.

Today, I keep website passwords, pictures, text messages, IM conversations, and business emails on my device. Security is a necessity for me today.

Yeah but I don't know if it locks your emails. I think it just adds an extension to your media files so the media player won't show it. It works really we'll though.

no, but i think that encryption is a option when you go to options in your email.

Yes we should...I would like to lock out my messages folder. For now I just hide the [messages] icon anyone wants to look at my phone (happens a lot ).
it's always greener with the other carrier...
