    key tone

Hello all. First let me say that I searched and still could not find the answer I'm looking for. Anyway, I would like some help on turing off the key tone when I'm dialing a number. I went to options > screen/keyboard > key tone > off, and it still sounds when u press it. By the way I did update the os, However, I had the same problem before as well. Any ideas?

Im in the same boat you are. Hopefully the 8100 is different than the rest of the BB's and there is a way. Many stackers have tried and cant find a way.

Are you making sure to "save" your settings?

After you change the tone to "off" make sure you hit the return or "back" key, which is the key to the right of the trackball.

On pressing that, it will ask if you want to save the change.

Highlight "save" and press the trackball to select.

    Hope that solves the problem.

I believe the OP means turn of the DTMF tone when dialling, not the electronic key press click that you can turn off.

I dunno, I read it to mean that when he presses a key he does not want an audible tone.

Maybe he will come back in here and tell us what he meant.

    Re: key tone

yea that's what i meant. the key tone off in the options turns off the other keys like the menu key or the camera key, but the 'numbers' are still very much audible when u press them. i looked everywhere, i don't think it can be done.

Berry24, As far as I know it can't be done on any BB Device.

    berry24,

One idea I tried out that can help. Plug in your headset when you're dialing the numbers. The sound is a lot quieter coming through the headset than through the normal speaker.
