Welcome to the Stacks DallasJetFan. Some email does take longer than others. AOL mail for instance, can normally take 15-20 minutes to come through. This is normal.

Can you have more than 5 icons on the home screen?

It depends on the theme that you're using. If you're using a Zen Theme, I think that is all you can have on the screen at once. If you're using an Icon or List theme, you can put many, many icons on the home screen.

So many features that I don't know how to use yet. I just bought a rubber skin that covers the back and sides, but leaves the front uncovered. How tough is the screen as far as scratches go??

Get a screen saver fast. I use cutdown PDA screen savers from Belkin, but there are a lot of better/more expensive one on the market.

DallasJetsFan and SPCS Guy - welcome to the Stacks!

The skins are nice and not at all bulky. As Rcbjr says, get a screen protector asap. I got some made for the Pearl and they're easy enough to apply.

Run (don't walk!) to bestskinsever.com site. They have easy-to-apply clear skins for front and back for only $7, tough as nails and practically invisible. Do a search for 'skins' and you'll find info here.

Also, the dimension icon theme on t-mo gives 12 icons on-screen and you can scrolldown 4 per row. Much handier than the zen theme which has only 5 icons and an app list on the menu button.

Remember that call list can be accessed by the green phone button and the address book comes up if you hold down this same button, so don't waste prime icon space on these apps.

Should I purchase more than one skin? How long will one last? I already have the rubber skin that protects the sides and back which I love. I just need something to protect the screen.

Not sure how long they will last - probably depends on the manufacturer. I bought a pack of 5 for mine - Amzer, I think. They're not bad, but I guess will require replacement if they sell them in packs like this. I bought one for my Sony PSP about a year ago - it is much thicker and looks like it is built to last.
