Do you have a link? The one I saw downloads a .rar file instead of a file with .cod and an .alx file. I know that you can't put .rar files on the bb, I don't have a .rar file extracter/converter on my pc right now so I can't explore that one.

    Thumbs up

I figured out the problem. I hope this answers questions for everyone else out there.

I would download the RAR or ZIP files and only unpack the .axl files. BB needs bothe the .AXL and .COD files to install the application. Here is how to do this. Create a new folder on the desktop and unpack both files into it. Then use the desk top manager to install the file. All is well. WHEW......

for those of you having issues, open DM, click help, then the last tab that says 'device software' ... list what you have in that window please.

dubie, when you unzip the file, it 'unpacks' both files inside ... the cod file will always be hidden when you go to load using app loader. the cod file is what actually tells DM/AL what to do with the alx file.

i am glad you got your issue resolved we are going to use your thread to trouble shoot the other two that were having problems

Another issue of mine is that I never unpack the files. I drag and drop. ;0

Wow, it seems like a miracle, apparently I did everything right, I'm able to finally install themes on my 8130 pearl.
In case I can be an example, here is how I did it:
I removed the Desktop Manager that I was using from my computer, I reinstalled the DM with the software CD that came along with my phone.
    Then I went to: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/blog.php?b=86
and located the latest OS update specifically for my phone. I downloaded it and installed it. As the direction indicated here:
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...lackberry.html
After installation is complete, I searched for the "vendor.xml" file and deleted it.
Then I plugged my phone to the computer, I opened DM and a window auto popped up listing the new updates for my phone.
DM installed all the updates (20min). After this, its all down hill from here.
Find your theme, download it, extract it into a folder, use application loader, and all is well.

I have a BB pearl 8130 with service from Verizon Wireless and also have been unable to install any apps or themes. I've tried just about everything on here and can't seem to get it to work!

    way up on the Post:
azstar you were looking for a .rar un zipping tool.

WinRar is an amazing extractor. I use it for all files that require extracting.

    here's the link: http://www.win-rar.com/
