    install apps problems

I'm having problems installing apps on my 8100...I lost my original cd in a move, so I downloaded the desktop manager (v4.2) from blackberry.com, but all it gives me is a 'properties' window from the toolbar. I'm using a USB cord and have no problem transferring music files, but applications (and themes) will not transfer/install...I've zipped (or unzipped?) them as per instructions for 'themes', but nothing is downloading. Do I need to set the device to receive somehow? PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you installed your Devices operating system to your computer yet? If so when you open desktop manager go to app loader and then browse for the files you have unzipped and load them to the app loader. They should then install to your device.

It is the OS or Operating System that is on your BB.

Go to Options>About and this will tell you what OS you are running.

okay, the BB is telling me 'v4.2.1.107 (Platform 2.3.0.83)'...
I think I'm content with how the operating system is working, but I believe the problem lies in my desktop software...I just checked my toolbar and I seem to have downloaded and installed 'BB Device Manager' from blackberry.com. It appears to be useless except for telling me how long my BB has been connected to my computer. Where would I go about downloading the 'Desktop Manager'??

My most sincere thanks to you, MC, LG, & AZ.
I think I've got it under control-- I managed to download and install the correct desktop software (v4.2 w/service pack 1) although none of the apps I downloaded from pinstack.com are compatible with my BB (only one of five themes were recognized). I was pretty thorough in making sure the apps were compatible with my BB...any ideas?

Also download and install/run the same bb os that is on your bb onto your computer. Not just the desktop manager.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I'm trying to install backgammon and I keep getting an error message...what's an 'xml syntax error on line 1'?
and if I upgrade from v4.2 to v4.5 will I be able to keep all of my current apps, themes, etc.?
