My folder does not have a shared folder in it. Just four folders, apploader modem drivers, PIMDeviceManager and ISB Drivers.

Re: Increase available memory on the pearl

I have an 8320 (sorry for the wrong forum, but this seems to be the best thread) and want to accomplish two things:
    1) Get a lot of memory back
    2) Fix some issue I am having with SplashID
    3) My "Profile" database is corrupted. It won't backup through the backup program.

for memory, I tried to rename the cod files and re-run apploader, but it didn't seem to delete much. Memory only went up a few megs, but deleted tons of language files. I am thinking for some reason the files didn't delete. Not 100% sure, but kinda seems this way

    Questions
    1) Which language files might be useful to keep if I wanted to be able to do spell checking in another language, but nothing else.
    2) How dangerous is it to do a JL commander wipe and reload the os? I have already run a full backup of all the databases (except profiles, anything important in there) and downloaded tmobile's latest OS (and took out a bunch of files).
    3) If I do #2, all I need to do is a wipe then go to app loader and reload? Anything else to think about?

    Thanks!!!

make sure you're using the most current version of DM and that you've deleted all prior instances of OSes or DMs you've installed on your PC as they have been know to muck up future installs

any of the languages you would want to spell check you should keep

using JL will restore it to factory settings...pretty much what all the Carriers get before they brand em and load their personal OS...no functionality...just a brick ready for mortar (mortar being the OS you're gonna install)

    Keep bb mds runtime,

DoD root certificate is for the internet browser to get onto dept. of defense sites( such as goarmy.com, anything that is military in nature or government in nature, etc.) up to you on if you want to delte it

tty support is for relay service for the hard of hearing, or hearing impaired, so unless you would use it you can get rid of it.

A lot of the steps are going to be identical or very similar.

I FINALLY gave this another shot now that there is some new OS v4.2.1.154 for ATT devices.
First time through, I got some weird Java Runtime error type when i deleted the themes, so i tried to reinstall the OS but didn't touch the themes...
not sure what i might have deleted, but it was much more successful so far when i didn't delete any themes...

thanks for helping get rid of those files!!

Re: Increase available memory on the pearl

Question again as it was asked before and I don't think was answered.

Will doing this actually "speed" up the phone if you already have a microsd card installed? Meaning, will this make loading maps any faster in Google Maps or while browsing the internet; or is this simply for installing more 3rd party apps and any cache files are going to be stored on the microsd anyways?
