When a new OS is installed on the PC (not the device) the .cod files are contained in the java folder at (for OS .69) program files/common files/research in motion/shared/loader files/8100-v4.2.0.69_P2.2.0.40."

I downloades the new OS for the pearl 8130, but i dont see this file on my pc, is there another way to delete the files????
    plz help!!
Is the OS not only downloaded but installed? If so you should be able to follow the path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files in your my computer icon. If you cannot find it just run through application loader on the DM and uncheck the languages (which is better then nothing) but if you cannot find the folder that holds your OS you won't be able to do most of the instructions in this thread. Possibly try an uninstall of the os and redownload and install it again.

I tried this with the latest **.109 software and during the "wait for device initialization" this came to a halt and my phone is now at "Blackberry Platform 2.3.0.85 screen and I am unable to access any of the items in the plain white menu I now have. Any suggestions? Also, I was very VERY critical as to the files I deleted from the java folder.

Why not? Where are you getting stuck?

    (5) Delete the preloaded pictures by deleting the files: net_rim_bb_media_240x260_b.cod and net_rim_bb_media_100_240x260.cod. Savings = 3.5 MB.
These files are for the 8100 but you should have something similar to it on the 8310.

    Hey all,

    A few questions:

1.) How do I upgrade to the latest OS and what are the benefits? I'm on TMobile with App Version 4.2.1.107

2.) I'm only running on 14MB free memory at a time!! That seems really low compared to everyone else. I check my computer and I don't have that shared folder under "Research In Motion"- how else do I free up more memory?

3.) If I "leave message on SIM card" does that effect the free memory at all?

P.S. I found that soft resets will boost up the available memory same as a hard reset....

Thanks for any/all help!! Feel free to PM if motivated.
