    incoming call: mute ring?

i know you can ignore calls but it hangs up and so the person KNOWS and is VERY AWARE that you hung up on him/her.

i was wondering if there was some other button you can push so that it'll just mute the ringtone to keep on ringing and not just hang up.

I'm not sure about your model, but on my 8703e, there is a "ringer" button on the top of my phone that I can push to silence an incoming call, but not "hang-up" on them.

Also, when a call comes in, I believe that on the screen I have an option to "ignore" the call...will have to look next time I get a call (charging right now) and see, but there has to be a way to simply silence w/o hanging up.

Hahaha! With the Pearl, just move the trackball!
It has become a problem to some, b/c people never hear their phones ring, but yeah!
When your ringer starts going off, just roll the trackball to silence it.

there is a button on topof the pearl . the button has a picture of a speaker with a line through it. just push that and the ringer will silence but not hang up on mine when you move the track ball it just highlights ignore which ends the call or accept.

I've always used the trackball feature myself with no issues at all, and I swear by it!! But I think I will try the mute button option.

As in regards to pressing the ignore button, and it sending the caller to the vm, that's something tmob would have to adjust, its not a feature within the phone, just the networks response when you choose to decline the call.

With the 8703e and the 7100i if you roll the wheel during an incoming call it will silence the ringer. I would think the pearls ball would be the same.

So that button exists on the 8100 as well. That is exactly the on that I was referring to for my 8703e!

It depends which OS you're running. The new version (standard with Cingular Pearl) has a fix for that "bug". The trackball no longer silences the call, but rather just moves between the "answer" and "ignore" options.

The mute button on the top does still work however.....
