I'm getting the Curve for FREE! R.I.P. Pearl?

So I got a job with AT&T a few weeks ago and I begin training in the store on Monday. One of the managers called me today and asks me if I had any ideas as to what phone I'd like to have for a company phone.

I told him that I already had a Pearl and that I would like to keep that because I've been really satisfied with it and then he asks me if I'd like to get the new Curve and I told him that I would love to have it and the only reason why I didn't ask for that to begin with was because I thought there might be a certain price range on which phone I was allowed to get.

He laughed about it and then told me that he was ordering the phone for me today and I will be getting it next week.

I'm not the kind of person who carries around two phones so what do you guys think I should do with my Pearl? I just signed up with AT&T about four months ago and so I don't want to cancel my account

Funny you should bring up the iPhone...

After I got off the phone with my manager, I told my friends about how I was getting the Curve for free and told them everything that my manager had told me and then they both asked me why I didn't ask for an iPhone instead. So I called my manager back and just brought up the iPhone and asked about what they had planned for the release because I didn't really want to just call back and ask for an iPhone just like that. And so he explained what they were doing and then when he was done, I asked, "so would it be possible for me to get an iphone for the company phone?"

He laughed and said "I bet we're all gonna want one." Then he said that it wasn't on the company phone list yet and that whenever it was available, he would get one for me.

If I'm not able to get my personal account switched over to my company account, do you guys think I should just go ahead and drop all my add-ons that I have on my personal account and save myself some money by just having minutes on it?

In 90 days, AT&T will give you 2 ERP (employee rate plan) lines with free minutes, and the feature adds are significantly cheaper. I'd drop the add-ons for your current account and then when you're eligible for the ERP lines, migrate your account to one of those.

COU is strictly for business, but as a lot of the wireless industry is wrapped up in entertainment, you can do mostly whatever you want, as long as you don't violate HR code of conduct.

You can convert your personal line to an ERP account ONLY if that line is out of contract.
