BUT I need help. I just got a warranty replacement on my pearl. And I got a new laptop. Therefore, I know I need to d'ld the desktop software and I guess the latest os. Is there a link to doing these things here already? Also, when I placed my SIM card in the replacement it isn't seeing any of my contacts that I have saved to the SIM card...any idea as to why?? And I have forgotten do i have to have a person's PIN number to add to BB Messenger or is there another way?

I may be making a trip to AT&T tomorrow.

Here is the first, BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites.

For the second, you are going to the Address Book menu and selecting SIM Phone Book aren't you?

And the last Yes, unless both of you are on the same BES I think.

yes I am selecting SIM phone book but it says nothing is found there...but I have saved all contacts to SIM card. Thank you very much for the link. I may have to look at it tomorrow.

I think there's an option in the menu to import sim contacts. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

yeah so while the kids were busy with the Wii, I managed to get my contacts to save correctly. Installed everything I needed on the computer and tried to do a switch device wizard to get everything from the old phone to the new one and it worked good except the pics I had not saved onto the memory card are gone from the original phone and I have no idea how to get them back. I know a copy of whatever was saved in my documents as an IPD file. Will those pictures be in that file and how do I get to them? Is this a problem that happens when you backup and restore or whatever? I am so confused.

The pics should be in the backup file. You can either do a full restore, or a selective restore and just choose 'content store'. That's pics, ringtones, etc...
