Lightbulb How to NOT modify your battery cover (pics)

Well, I quickly discovered after buying my Pearl that the battery door cover also covers the speaker (except for a small opening at the top). I do believe this was addressed with the newer version, but still doesn't help much.

Well, I wanted things to be loud, so I made a, erm, slight modification:

I first started poking small holes in the area where the speaker is (with the cover off of course), but this didn't help much, so I then took some wire cutters and attempted to cut a hole. This turned into breaking off small pieces to form a hole but in doing so I broke the left part clean off and had to use super glue to re-attach it. To protect the speaker (sort of) I super glued on a pipe screen to the under side of the cover.

    Mighty stupid, eh?

Oh ya, this was BEFORE I knew about the Seidio battery door cover with a built-in speaker hole. Ya, needless to say I ordered one of those and am awaiting its delivery.

Oh...it pains me to see an broken berry. As long as the pearl itself isn't harmed you're good to go. Glad you have a replacement on it's way.

Yes, the audio is louder. I'm glad you guys got a kick out of it. I still find it funny. Luckily enough it's strong enough to not fall apart when I take it off to pop the battery. Good ol' super glue lol

It really makes me cringe seeing a pearl like that....

I would never even think of doing anything like that. Besides, taking off the battery cover would show you that it's not much louder uncovered vs covered.
