How do I check for the absolute total time the phone has been used?
Meaning since it was brand new (with 0 minutes used)?

    Thanks

If I am not mistaken, if you haven't cleared it:
    Press the talk button
    Bring up the menu
    Go to status

Yup, N8DBB is correct, it will show your last call and your total calls, in days, hours, minutes, seconds.

    Thanks guys, I found it.
But I have a second question on this,
N8DBB says it can be cleared?? Is that the only place to look? I had a sony ericsson where the lifelime calling was set, and was impossible to clear, at least with laymen hardware. Kind of like the odometer in a car....

Nope, you can clear these call timers. It's not listed anywhere else that I know of, but like you, most people do not know this is there and do not ever clear it. Plus, you can pretty much tell how much a device has been used by it's appearance and also the model of the BB lets you know how long it's been out.

The total call-time of a phone doesn't affect how long it will continue to last. That's more of a battery issue and how long they'll provide OS updates and support for that particular device.
