Question How do you reboot pearl?

I searched these forums and I didn't see an answer to this question.

How can I reboot my pearl with out removing the battery for thirty seconds? Just to free up the phone memory. (I don't want to lose messages or call logs).

I did notice the phone rebooted when I deleted an application once. So I figure there is a way to do it by possibly pressing a series of buttons?
It doesn't seem the phone reboots or even really shuts down when you shut it off by holding the red phone button.

Thanks for any feedback you all may have,

    Jeff

The only way I know of is to do a battery pull, but my call logs and messages have not disappeared when I've pulled my battery.

Reset, from what I know of... does not really free up memory. I have found an AWSOME post that may help you to get a lil more free memory.

What the pull does do is reset the memory. The Pearl has some pretty bad memory leaks, and so might some third party apps, so when you do a pull it is like turning the hour glass of memory over again.

Through it on the ground. After you put it back together it's reset.

Another way to do a reboot is to change an application's permissions to something more restrictive -- then the device will prompt you to reboot.

I still can't post links, sadly, but I've written a SoftReset app.

go to www.geekandproud.net/blackberry/softreset/softreset.jad for OTA installation or www.geekandproud.net/blackberry/softreset/softreset.zip for an alx/cod file.

To use it, run and hit the big Reset button. The system will then ask you to reboot.

thanks metsfan - so this will replace having to pull the battery out? which can really suck if you have a case on your pearl!

Unless something locks the phone up so you can't do anything on it anymore, yes this will replace having to pull the battery. If the phone is still running, but you want to reset, this will do it.
