How do you increase "file size limit"?

I am trying to put an MP3 on my 8100 and the desktop manager is telling me that the file size limit is like 2.86 megs. I don't have any extra memory on my 8100, but I just wanted to put an Mp3 on there to hear how it sounds. Does that file size limit automatically increase when I add a media card, or is there a way to manually change it? I searched the forums but oddly enough can't find anyone talking about this issue, but surely this has come up before?

Yes, when you add a media card, it will automatically allow you to transfer whatever you want.

No media card means no MP3 over 2.7MB will be able to be transferred.

Try and edit it again and compress it smaller and it should work as long as you get it under 2.7

Ok, so next question is, what is the theoretical maximum size media card the 8100 supports?

I know that right now only 1gb or smaller works, but I am curious if 2gb will be supported soon, or larger? I believe the documentation says 2gb is the max, right? but that is currently bugged?

Tanedo, YOu can't install a theme on to your media card. Are you talking about downloading a Zip file to the BB? How are you trying to download it?

TexRob, if you go into the media on your pearl, then go to ringtones, then go to device memory and click menu, click options and finally scroll down to device memory limit you can change it up to 25M but that's all.

    Hope this helped,

Re: How do you increase "file size limit"?

I am interested to learn more about the device memory "file size limit". I recently got a new 8800 and on my first attempt I had 18MB of e-mails loaded onto the device....they cam off my old 8700. All was fine until somehow I got re-activated and when I tried to re-load the old e-mails they max out 1/4 way through the load due to the file size limit.....Can I increase the limit somehow?
    Thx - Greg

It supports up to 2gigs now.. (pretty sure since thats what mine is :P) But might not be too long before 3/4gigs are supported.

Re: How do you increase "file size limit"?

Thanks, but the Internal Device Memory is set to 25MB and the limit per file is 2.86MB.
I have a media card installed and it holds 121MB external device memory.
I want to "restore" or re-load my old e-mails to the device memory, but the restore gets truncated before all e-mails are loaded....due to the 2.86MB file size limit.
I want to know if this can be changed/managed somehow? Why was I able to load all e-mails the first time and not now?
I have a brand new 8800....latest OS and Desktop!!
