Re: How do I Erase All Data on the Pearl

Hi Sheep, welcome to pinstack. There are a couple ways to wipe a device. My latest favorite way would be to plug your BB into Desktop Manager and select Backup/Restore, then click advanced. In there you can clear all databases and it will clear all your info. You could also go into your security settings and select wipe handheld. Numerous options.

I don't know about you guys, but when I do a hanheld wipe via my BB, it takes upwards of an hour. Is this normal?

The wipe does take longer with the more information you have. One piece of advise, never take the battery out while doing a wipe! I did a wipe on my 7100i, and got really impatient and took the battery out. I had a heck of a time installing the OS agian.

    Wiping with no desktop manager

What if you don't have the dock...how can you wipe the Pearl just by using the Pearl itself?

    Thanks,

Here are more specific instructions to wipe out all info from the Blackberry Pearl device:

    1.) Click on "Options" icon
2.) Select "Security Options" from menu
2.) Select "General Settings" from menu
3.) From General Settings window, press Menu key (left of tracker ball)
4.) Select "Wipe Handheld" from menu

That's it - hopefully that helps

Re: How do I Erase All Data on the Pearl

Yes u do. I have a question also. The last umpteen times I wiped 2 of my 3 Pearls, after the initial wipe, it went back a second time and I saw "scrubbing" while it was removing the info. Anybody else have this happen and why?
