I upgraded my os last night from the link within the link that Cherri posted above and, though it took a while, it went flawlessly and is incredible. Upgraded to os 4.2.1.145 (from 4.2.0.64) and I LOVE IT!!! highly recommend it. Just make sure and follow the instrctions... good luck all and happy BBing. =-)

You can use any OS on your pearl. Just follow the directions Cherri gave up a couple of posts.
Once you delete the vendor.xml file anyone can use it.

    Re: Help upgrading OS

I heard that using other OS's can mess up certain features such as the autodim from TMO's OS?
Is true or another Pearl urban legend?

    Re: Help upgrading OS

The newer OS's give you the option to turn it off and on back.
I think 1.66 and up has that option back.

    Re: Help upgrading OS

There are plenty of bug fixs.
Major Changes are if you use the TMO Zen theme you will lose the list of apps and it turns into icons
    Desktop View for your Browser
Ability to Turn off the Auto-Dim
Everyone says it runs faster, but I think that's just in everyones head. It's about the same.
    Call answer lag is gone.

Thats about all i can think of off the top of my head this late. I think it's worth it upgrading.

If you do upgrade, be patient. At times it will look like it's stopped and frozen, but it's working just wait till it says it's done. It takes a long time!!! Longer than you expect.
Also make sure you have the latest Desktop Manager, I had someone run into conflicts with and older version and the new OS.

hope this helps, if you have more questions don't worry about asking

    Re: Help upgrading OS

    Ok Red,
We are officially friends for life. Im going to go ahead and do the update. I was hoping that maybe I might gain a stronger signal out of this update. But getting rid of the call lag is worth it. Thanks for all the help tonight.

    Re: Help upgrading OS

Oh, should i pull my SD card when i do this? I know the backup doesn't cover anything on the SD card so i don't want to lose my media on there during the update.
