Re: HELP my pearl wont let me access any media files

    1. Download and install Desktop Manager from the Blackberry Download site.
    2. Download the newist OS package from one of the links in Blackberry OS Software links (by carrier)Thread.
    3. Run the downloaded .exe file
    3 1/2. Delete the vendor.xml file loacted in C:/program files/Common files/RIM/apploader/Vendor.xml
    4. Connect you BB to your PC.
    5. Open Desktop Manager
    6. Select and Start Application Loader.
    7. View all the list to make sure all the item you want installed are checked
    8. Select Next
    9. Follow all the instructions and answer the questions appropriatly.

Do Not disconnect your BB until the process finishes.

If this does not work, or your DM will not connect to your BB, use this Process.

    Hope this help

On the off chance that reloading OS doesn't do the trick... I have also seen that error when my media card needs to be defragmented & otherwise checked for errors.

    FWIW.

BTW (& FWIW), I have not gwd that problem in many months, now. I check & defrag the media card every 2 or 3 days. Saves lots of time.

Can you defrag the memory card on your pearl, or do you have to do it through the actual computer?

I always use the 'My Computer' option in the start menu, after connecting the BB & allowing Mass Storage Mode. You defrag your media card the same way you do the hard drive.

I also usually precede that process by checking/fixing any errors on the card. After doing that, it is a good idea to check that all LFNs are intact. Sometimes a repaired FS results in loss of LFNs. If not fixed, it can play hell with file access.

Actually I think it happens everytime I keep my phone connected to the computer while I shut it down. Just my take on the matter.
