    HELP- menus are different than user guide

    I downloaded the User Guide for my 8100 Pearl and all the menus are nothing like what the help guide says. I can't find anything.

    i.e. To stop answering calls when you remove your device from the holster
    1. In the phone, press the MENU key. ____________OK
    2. Click OPTIONS _____________________________OK
    3. Click GENERAL OPTIONS _____________________No such menu item
    4. Set the AUTO ANSWER CALLS field to
    NEVER ______________________________________Where is this?

    Its there...

    Press the Green Phone button...

    Now your call log will come up

    Press the menu button (button to the left of the trackball).

    A menu will pop up...Scroll down and you will see Options almost towards the very bottom.

    Go there and click your trackball or enter...There it will bring up the menu that has the general options.

    Thanks, that worked. Why couldn't they just say that in the guide?

    This thing is great but it WILL drive me nuts trying to figure out how to use it. Why did they have to make it so difficult? As you can tell I am a real newbie to BB!!!!

    It's no problem...Don't think they really take time to make sure that the users guides are all that accurate or helpful...Atleast it is more helpful than the guide that comes with the device! Which manual did you download? The 200+ page one?

    Yes, I downloaded the pdf file. I am also having a hard time setting up my email but I think it might be a problem with T-Mobile resetting my account to a family instead of business. My billing cycle ends on the 10th of the month and they said all new settings should be effective on the 11th.

    ? So are you going from a BES server to BIS?

    I guess I am wondering why you're settings wouldn't be in effect for another 2 weeks?

    ???????? All I know is that when I try to set up my email from a private email account, the only option I get is "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server". I keep reading about using up to 10 email addresses, but haven't been able to set up anything yet. I am half hoping it is my T-Mobile account that is the problem. Maybe not.

    I just changed my T-Mobile phone account from a business to family and added Blackberry. I never had a BB before.

    Where are you trying to set your email up from? The phone itself or Tmobiles website?

    You are in good hands with N8 helping you. As to the problem of the Users Guide, I think they left out a word that really would have helped. If instead of:
    1. In the phone, press the MENU key. - it said:
    1. In the phone application, press the MENU key. - would that have made a difference to your understanding?

    I have been trying to set up my email from the phone. Everytime I tried to set it up on T-Mobile web site I got an error message that said something about them having trouble and try back later.
