    Question Help! Broken charger jack!

I leaned on my phone when it was plugged into the charger and bent the internal jack. (Female part on the phone that receives the charger plug.) AT&T will not cover this under the year warranty, although I didn't tell them I leaned on it. RIM will fix it for 300 bucks or give me a refurbished phone for like 400. I bought a cradle charger that doesn't use that jack in the meantime. Is there any reasonably priced way to fix this?

I love my phone and it is the only way I am connected to my fiance in Iraq. Help!!

    You can try:
    bbrepairshop.com

Not sure how costly that's going to be though....
You are going to need that port for connecting to PC
Sorry to hear it, hope you get it fixed.

I had this same thing happen to two 8830s including my current 8830. The first one worked then got intermittent after a while, while my current one still works. I'm convinces that there are two pins that hold the jack in place and one just lifted out of a socket or something. I assume all that needs to be done to fix this is to pull the blackberry apart and reseat the connector. I tried to do exactly this and even used a T5 screwdriver to take out all thw screws but I never could figure out how to take the cover off--even with the screws removed.

I know this is an older thread, but as far as dissassembly goes :

    8100:

Remove the screws, and lift/remove the plate by the mouthpiece. This curved piece keeps the phone together. Also remove the sides.

    8300:

Same, Remove the bottom Piece, and pull the sides out (They are rubber) .. The side pieces have tabs that fit in to keep the front/back from coming apart.
