I went back to Cingular .73 and don't have the problem at all.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I had to downgrade a few days ago to .73 because of the calls getting cut out too. I really really liked 1.66 and I hope this gets worked out soon d

I noticed that after I upgraded to the new OS, the names do not appear when I receive a text message... only the phone number. Is anyone else having this problem?

I had no problems with it. Make sure the numbers in your address book match Exactly as they appear when you receive them in SMS. Also, check Phone / Options / Smart Dialing .... At the very time it has Country Code and Area Code. Make sure it is correct for you. US = +1 not sure about others.

Hard to explaing but when you move the camera around, things in view "bounce and stretch" and then become stable again when the camera is kept still. I don't remember it doing this before the install.

    Anyone w/ the same issue?

I wanted to ditch this install and install the Cingular (US) 4.2.0.89/4.2.0.73 from Cingular's site... how do I do this? Do i have to un-install this TIM version first?

    Thanks

dfarrales - yes, you can downgrade.

first, uninstall the TIM from your pc in control panel>add/remove programs
then download OS from cingy and install on your pc
    delete the vendor.xml file
reboot PC (not sure if this is needed, but i do it anyway)
plug bb into usb, launch desktop manager
DM will automatically recognize that there is an older OS installed on the PC than is running on the device. just follow the wizard prompts.

and yes...i've seen that issue, in addition to when taking pics and emailing them, the OS automatically shrinks it down.

Hi I'm new to the board and wanted to ask a question. I have a unlocked Tmobile 8100 that I'm using with Cingular. Does it matter which provider's OS (cing or tmo) I install onto the phone.

    Thanks

    nutathis - welcome to pinstack

it does not matter what 'carrier' OS you put on your pearl...

disclaimer would be ** if something goes wrong you will need to put the original back on before returning to cingy...but hey, i'd come here first before returning the phone anyway...we can fix most anything

Nope. You can use any of them because they are all for the 8100. You will have to delete the vendor.xml file so that it doesn't stop the load. After that your golden. I'm using the latest Cingular patched release and it works fine with TMO.

Thanks for the help. I have a Cingular 8125 but I've been playing with the 8100 for about a week now and its not that bad surely alot lighter than the 8125.
