I was hoping for a update like media, video, and theme improvements. I hope someone has an answer to this question because I have not heard of anything comming out soon. Anyone else?

I would assume for at LEAST a year. Isn't the 8700 like 2 years old and just got an update?

I would guess a total support life of 3 to 5 years, although I wouldn't expect too much change in the out years. Especially if the future hardware changes majorly as it did with the 8700 which was released Nov 21, 2005. But the 7290/7520 and 7100 series are still geting updates also.

    Hope this helps.

    that is fair.

rule of thumb with IT hardware........feature upgrades untill a replacement is in market. Then continued bug and security patches for a year or two.

so my guess would be once the 8120 is in the market we will never seen a Major o/S release for the 8100. but we will see minor releases for another year.

but that is just my guess.
