    GPS on Verizon 8130

Before I go apesh--, er, I mean get really upset, can anyone (or everyone) confirm that GPS still does not work on Verizon's 8130 (or any Verizon device) except for Verizon's own VZNavigator (and only when you pay the fees associated with using that program)? Are Sprint (or Alltel) 8130 users able to use GPS with third party apps (Google Maps, Live Search, even Blackberry Maps)?

I sent a message to Verizon's customer service outlining my complaints about Verizon feeling the need to disable features of phones that I purchase. I received this back:

Mr. xxxxxx, you can use any GPS feature available to you on your Blackberry. However, if it is not the VZ Navigator, we cannot guarantee the service or trouble shoot another GPS system. You would need to contact the provider for the GPS that you are using. For example: Google.
Of course I tried it (enabling it in Options, resetting, even doing the *228, option 1 to reprogram the phone in case it was something new), and I am still unable to get Live Search or Google Maps to get the GPS to work.

I think this is yet another case of Verizon's CSR's not knowing anything about the Gestapo tactics their company employs, but I thought I'd ask before telling them their full of it.

    Thank you,

I was told by a vzw rep that if the unlocked the GPS that people could use it to track me. So it was for my safety. I didn't know that they cared so much! Boy! I feel safer already!

I have Alltel and my GPS works with all programs I've tried, except live search, it seems to always find me at the cell tower 1/2 mile from my house, but google maps and BB maps work great.
