I was fortunate enough to get a G1 from my wife for my birthday yesterday. This thing is amazing! The freedom to do what I want with a phone, and although it may be lacking, at least I can rest assure that it's an open source OS, and the changes can be made by a lot more people than just one company.

Exactly, I had unlimited text, so this is the same price per month.

I don rly care anymore about the lagging but somtimes it a pain. I simply use my 8220 for txting and my bold for anything else since its faster

Overall I think there is no phone better than Blackberry. I personally use a BB8320. Even though it aint 3G its this Shiz Nit!. Its convinient in every way. You can add appointment, schedule, call, sms / MMS practically from any screen or menu. Its Rock Steady when you manipualte it properly. Its extremely reliable and simple. For EMAILS its the #1 device. I just installed a new service called "PAGEONCE" OMFG I have never found an application to host all my Credit cards, loan, finances information. I get all the goodies right from the Application. Incase no one has looked into it, Its awsome & free & very convinient for the people always wondering how much available credit or interest rate they are charging you on your own credit cards . SECOND of all now with the flick n slide toturial I know make my own themes and I have made some real slick looking themes. Im happy with my BB. its actually very personalizable. It kind of grows on you. little by little. & believe Me i have tried the G1, its okay only for the web experience. but for features....BB is the best. More programs.

Wow, I didn't see that. Good looks!

BTW - IMO the G1 is one ugly weird looking phone.

BTW IMO the 8820 feels like a fisher price phone that lags, rejects calls while you have other programs open and in use, lags, and came with 2 CRAPPY themes.

I guess your device was messed up. My 8220 couldn't run any better. Everything is smooth and fast! Good luck with that G1.

BTW - What color do you have? Sorry if you already mentioned it.

its wasnt my first BB. i wiped it reloaded the OS tried it with no third party app's. It would freeze and that stupid lil clock would come up if I was texting and a call came in. Then it would reject the call on its own and then sit there for another few MINUTES.

    Black btw

How come you just didn't take it back and get it exchanged? And there will be more themes coming for it soon.

How is the sliding of the screen? Freeze when switching views? Wait, it's not a windows mobile phone so I'm guessing it switches smoothly.

Very glad you're happy with your G1 - it looks really cool. But I really don't think it is 8220s as a whole that are lagging, as mine is running really well, and it sounds like others are having good luck too. Add to that the other problems you were having with rejecting calls, etc... It really seems like it was a defective phone.

I'm sorry you didn't give it another chance and ask for a replacement, but glad you found a phone you like!
