I have downloaded many articles and followed the steps ....
If I try to tether direct, I get an error 738 PPP error

I tried installing At&T desktop mgr. and I see the 738 error there also.

This a blackberry I bought from Cingular and then linked it with my work
BES, I am not the BES admin mor do I know the details of the BES settings ....

I am running win xp with sp2 -- I also have downloaded and installed the latest
    windows critical updates etc ...

I have a blue At&t SIM card. It is a BB pearl running 4.2.0.73 as the deviec OS

Is there a fellow stacked that has my like conditions and actually has it working?

If so, oletree@gmail.com is an e-mail. Thanks a million in advance!!!

I agree that At&t charge for tethering, but I thought folks were able to get this woring
w/p paying for the tether plan.

    Thanks for the replies!!
But if someone has the above setup. and it is working w/o paying for the tether plan,
feel free to let m know!

Crap. No need to pay AT&T any more than I already do. I was going to give this a try on my work laptop. Guess I'll stick to whatever free wi-fi signal I can grab when out of the office.

Thumbs up Re: Going nuts trying to tether a blackberry pearl to at&t/cingular

OK an update I am posting this using my pearl through At&t no tether plan
    the settings that finally worked

I have an at&t blue sim card
for extra modem initialization string I am using
    +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.cingular" <-- type it exactly
    For the ph# *99#
as for a username and password I left them both blank!!!!

I will try some other values instead of "wap.cingular" to see if the speed kicks up

says connected at 115 kbs but a speed test showed 48 kbs
I think the above is due to the fact I am in a 1 bar connection areq!
