    getting emails from network@etp2004.etp.eu.blackberry.net??

    Hi

I'm new to this forum and quite thick when it comes to phones so please bear that in mind when responding!!

I've had a pearl for about 6 months and everything has been hunky dory, but all of a sudden I've been getting emails from network@etp2004.etp.eu.blackberry.net saying that it's carrying data from server to server. I've looked on a couple of forums and removed the desktop manager as that seemed to be the general answer to this problem, but I still get them, less frequently but still get them.

Also, I'm choosing to delete some emails from mailbox and handheld and they're still appearing in my mailbox's. I have been playing around with the device and I may have created that problem myself but unsure how to rectify.

One other very small but very annoying thing that started to happen is that the red asterix indicator doesn't appear on one email address when emails are received. I've gone in to options and said "yes" for indicator but still nothing. I have three email addresses directed in to my pearl, and the other two have the asterix but this one doesn't. As I say, small issue but it really bugs me!!!

These problems all started about a week ago when I stopped receiving email for some reason.

If anyone can help, please let me know, bearing in mind that any instructions will have to be idiot proof!!

    Thanks.

    Re: Help!!

It's possible that those new e-mails are from your carrier notifying you of them switching servers or some kind of non-phone side stuff.

As for the asterisk notification, I have no idea.

Have you tried resending your service books? You can go to the email set up on the phone and sign in. There should be an option to send service books. This often corrects email related issues.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    Thanks Azstar.

That seems to have done the trick to a certain extent; however the asterix is now there permanently and it shows 1 message in that inbox, even though it's been deleted from the handheld.

Have you tried a soft reset or battery pull? Sometimes that makes them disappear.~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

    Re: Help!!

How do you do a soft reset?

Could it be something to do with message service in the email reconciliation option? I've changed that to desktop and the asterix disappeared but now has reverted back to the original problem of not appearing when an email arrives!

http://www.geekandproud.net/blackberry-software/ this is the download link for soft reset...it just restarts your BB without removing the battery. It's easier and better for the BB.

    Re: Help!!

I'm not sure about the email reconciliation, I have a newer BB the 8130. My options in email reconciliation are mailbox, or handheld.....I don't have anything that says "desktop" in email reconciliation so I'm not sure what to tell you there.

I don't know if this works on the pearl, but on the curve you can type alt, right-shift, and del. You hold those three together and it does a hard reset.

Unfortunately that shortcut doesn't work on the pearl.

    Re: Help!!

Wish I could help you more.....have you updated your device OS lately? Sometimes getting the newest OS on your BB helps with little bugs too. Here's a link that lists newest OS by carrier. If you can't find yours on the list let us know, also if you update your profile here on Pinstack with current OS, carrier, etc. that would help.

Roberts2000 - Are you on a BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) and is the phone brand new from a carrier's store or did you purchase it from someone?

    roberts 2000,

Sounds like you have inadvertantly set up redirector with desktop manager....you probably choose BES/Redirector instead of BIS. You said you have already uninstalled DM, when you reinstall, select Blackberry Internet Service in the first set up screen.

I beleive there is also a specific service book you can delete if the problem persists after redirector is taken down. I will look for that and update.

Now, are you not recieving emails at all?

    Re: getting emails from network@etp2004.etp.eu.blackberry.net??

Here is a detailed resolution for this issue:

The BlackBerry smartphone and/or the BlackBerry Desktop Manager have been configured to use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector option.
    Resolution
First, remove all of the Desktop service books from the BlackBerry smartphone.
    1. From the Home screen on the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
    2. Click Advanced Options.
    3. Click Service Book.
    4. In the service book list, select the Desktop [CMIME] service book.
    5. Display the menu and select Delete.
    6. In the service book list, select the Desktop [CICAL] service book.
    7. Display the menu and select Delete.
Next, verify whether or not the BlackBerry Desktop Manager has been configured to use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector option by looking for the Email Settings icon or the Redirector Settings icon in BlackBerry Desktop Manager (see image below). This will only appear if the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Desktop Redirector was chosen during installation.

If either the Email Settings or Redirector Settings icon is displayed, uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager or modify the configuration of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to support the BlackBerry Internet Service.
Note: If you choose to reinstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager, be sure to choose the BlackBerry Internet Service option when prompted during the installation process.
