    Free Internet?

Is there a way to channel the Pearl to connect to the net through a custom server I set up at home? It works with my friend on Verizon, he just points his TCP settings to the server and all traffic goes right out of airtime, but is the same possible on the 8100?

No, he's got a smartphone of some model I'm not familiar with, but I assume it would work since the Pearl has access to the same settings as his.

no, even the "smartphone" is a regular phone in regard to web and connectivity. The BlackBerry is unique in that it is the only device that requires authentication with the RIM network to get online to surf the web, send/receieve email, even to do MMS (Picture messages). Other phones and smartphones do not require this and therefore can "get around" certain data plans. Sorry if that's not what you were hoping for

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~well actually if you're using opera it might work but it would not work with the BB browser. Give it a try, it can't hurt
