For the New TMO BB Users like me...

To all new TMO BB Users,
WELCOME! I can tell you right away this is the place you need to be to get all the advise, help, tips, and troubleshooting you need. TMO reps can help some but doesnt compare to hundreds of existing BB users helping you

So as some of you may know, I just recently got my first BB let alone a Pearl just 2 weeks ago. Within 2 weeks of reading this forum and asking around, I have one of the most decked out Pearls out there. I'm so proud of my baby. =D

For the new TMO users, everything I have listed below, you can definitely setup on yours and all of it was found in this forum

For any existing TMO/Pearl users, you can list your setup as well to let the noobs know what they can get for their Pearl

    Here is my setup:
    Pearl - white on silver
    OS .71
2 gb SanDisk Micro - music/pictures all run fine
    Google Maps
Google News (all the Google stuff you can download as a bundle as i did)
    Google Search
    GMail
OZ Instant Messaging (pre-installed for TMO users, crapped out but fixed, not using as it uses your SMS text to chat!)
Jivetalk (HIGHLY RECOMMEND, its like trillian for your BB and it uses the net to chat NOT SMS)
    Sudoku
Pearl Scrol Ball Lighting (built - in option)
    Option>Advanced Options> APN set to "wap.voicestream.com"
Other options settings I wont get into as there might be a lot and it really depends on what you want
    Bluetooth headset set up
    Tethered to TMobile Internet
Desktop Manager synced to Work Computer, Laptop, and Home Desktop

again any of this can be searched and found in this forum on how to setup and find. Welcome again and Good luck!

Hi there Jenga-I'm am like you, a new BB user and just got my pearl this week. Can you clarify those to things that you set up on your Pearl? I don't understand exactly what Pearl scroll ball lighting is and then also What are you doing when you change the APN?
Sorry if those are pretty basic questions!

Avante, the pearl scroll ball lighting is the built-in lighting that lights up your scroll ball. The APN settings allow you to access some third party programs such as the Opera Mini browser.

I apologize in advance if this sounds like a stupid question.
Is there an option to have the pearl scroll ball lighting on or off? If so how do you get to that option to change it? Also if I want to use mini opera I should change the apn settings? What should I change them to? What are some other benefits of changing the apn setting? What other programs could I use? Why can't you use mini opera right out of the box?

Avante, I'm not sure how to turn the scroll ball light on/off since I don't have a Pearl. Regarding the APN (access point name) settings, set yours to wap.voicestream.com (Options/Advanced/TCP) and you should be all set.

Jenga-I see what you were referring to, the multi colored light show when an incoming call comes in. I didn't get what you were referencing right away. Sorry.

go to www.beejive.com and email them requesting to be involved with their beta testing. Then you just have to wait until they get back to you. It could take a little while, like a week! Good luck.

T-mobile reps do know what they are talking about. If you call 611 from your phone and ask for Black Berry support. You will get somebody who is dedicated to BB's. A regular rep sometimes is unknowlegable...but not always

Just be sure to ask for BlackBerry Support when you call 611
