DJ, Not sure if the internet will work up there. But I am sure that the flight attendants will not be happy if they find you trying.

No, your Time zone well need to be manually updated. But if you have your radio turned on while airborne you can use data. This is in violation of the FAA Regs and if you are found out, may result in unpleasant results. You will be requested to turn off all electronic devices prior to take off. If you turn the Radio Off on your BB before turning off the total device, when they allow electronic devices you can turn it on and use the Non-Data functions. Some people use this time to draft emails to be sent when they land.

    Hope this helps

No movies to watch? I am going on a flight tonight to north Carolina so I threw alpha dog, my super ex, talladaga nights and freedom writers on my pearl for my viewing pleasure

I thought of a new feature needed for the BB's ...... with wireless off (of course) while on a plane, subway etc.... we need a mute button that mutes annoying plane/subway seat mates.

G - How big did the files end up being for those movies? You must have a 2mg card - mine doesnt seem to have room for even one audio book (after I loaded all my music of course)!

I watch movies with my Pearl all the time when waiting for my daughters activities to finish. I can fit two 2+hr movies on a 1G card. Also I saw on TMO site that they have 2G for like $49? Getting smaller and cheaper all the time!

Circuit City sells the 2 gig sandisk cards for $39 -- they aren't out on the shelf -- you have to ask at the Verizon desk. Not only did I get mine there, but they installed it for me and made sure it was working before I left (and I'm a cingular customer). $28 plus change on Amazon.com.. but instant gratification and the install were worth the $11 to me...

If you want a great program to easily transfer and compress movies to your Pearl without a hassle, check you Slysoft CloneDVDMobile. I can easily put 6 full-length movies on a 2 gig card. Although it is around $70 for both AnyDVD which overides the copy protection of the DVD you own and allows it to be copied and CloneDVDMobile to actually transfer the movie to your phone. Both are awesome programs and well work the expense!

All very true However they have been working on getting this changed. There has been alot of testing as of late on wireless devices, in planes. They have not been able to simulate any problems caused by wireless devices to any of the commercail aircraft that they have tested.

All the same with hospital's , and in fact many of the local hospitals now allow cell phone operation in the building ( it turns out that your bb is not going to stop some ones pace maker lol )

But the real problem with cell phones on aircraft is not the interfeerence, it's how many towers it tries to connect to, possibly overloading the tower control channels. It's more of a problem during the Take off and Landing profiles when the aircraft and therefore the cell phones are low enough to fall into the antenna pattern of the towers.
