hi guys. this is probably my first post :O. well, i have a question. i have a .jar file, and i put it into my mini sd card so as to install it. it started installing, then said "download failed". i clicked on details and it says that the .cod data section is too large: 67164 bytes.

is there anyway to bypass/get around this
? i'm certain that this game would work if it would install. i've always liked my pearl, but this is my one issue with it. i sent the file to a friend using bluetooth, and he uses a nokia cellphone, and the game worked :/ Please help me as best u can..

did you take a look at any of the similar threads above to see if they were of any help?

im assuming that you don't have a data plan, hence the reason why you can't load the jar file wirelessly?

i do have a data plan. thats not the problem. otherwise, i could have uploaded it to my site and dled it from there. my problem is that when i start installing the game, it says that the .cod section made from the .jar is too big. is this some sort of restriction made by rim? i have no doubt that it would do the same thing even if i do it off online. tell me what u think. i cant upload anything to my site til sunday tho..

What program are you working with? How did you install this? Most apps will not install on your sd card...you need to either do a full install with desktop manager (.alx files) or an OTA install (over the air). In either case you cannot typically install applications to your SD card....Sounds like you treid to install an app meant for desktop manager directly to your BB?

Post back more details and lets see if we can get you up and runnning!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~yeah, you can't install an app from the sd card. You will have to use desktop manager.

How much memory is left on your phone? (not the card) but the phone? Is there enough left to install a game that large?

Is the game bb compatible or made for other cell phone devices?
Installing .jad files from the card should work.

Actually, if you have a jar file, or the complete jad/cod file set, you can "OTA" install from the Media Card. it's odd but it does work. Use the PC to create a new folder on your Media Card and move all the files to that folder. Disconnect the BB from the PC and open the Media App, then the Menu and select Explore. Browse to the newly created folder, select the jar or the jad file. Open the Menu and Select Open. This will bring up the Browser OTA Download screen and it looks just like a OTA install.

How much memory do you have left on the device? Go to options, status, file free. Is it more then 67164 bytes? Also found this from Hayden.
