I have an 8100 I've been trying to resurrect but every time I start up the apploader it says "usb-pin: FFFFFFFF". I've read elsewhere that it's hopeless. Is this true? Thanks

First of all what does the display on the 8100 say when powered on and not plugged in? App error or anything?

    Try these:

KB03485 - Run Application Loader when the BlackBerry device does not connect

How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't recognize The Device Is Connected

Worth a try, but I too have read (even on the RIM site) that this is a hardware failure and more than likely it is dead.

The led at the top glows red, then off and repeats that endlessly. But if it's bricked it's bricked..at least it isn't my phone.

Seems this person spoke with RIM and they told them the same thing: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-ffffffff.html

Thanks for all the help guys but I just spoke with RIM and they said that all FFFFFFFF's means that my BlackBerry is fried. They said that the "all f" situation only occurs when a device has been fried with too many error messages and there is nothing that can be done about it.

Did you still have warranty? I would contact my provider.

Sounds like it continously reboots as this is the normal cycle for a reboot(Stuck in reboot loop). If you cannot connect via javaloader I'd consider it for replacement parts only.
