    Question Exporting Contacts

Due to issues with TMO, I think I'm going to have to jump ship and leave my beloved family member, BB 8100, behind. Is there a way to export my contact list to a text file? I know I can back up the phone, but unless I get another blackberry I can't use it.

Any help for this noob would be appreciated!

By any chance do you have outlook or outlook express?

I have outlook installed on my computer but haven't used it. I haven't thought about it until you mentioned it but can I assume that I can sync my contact with Outlook?

Thanks for your speedy response btw...

    Question Re: Exporting Contacts

Yes, being 'tied' (quite literally in the case of US mobile phone subscribers) to an operator is a real pain in the behind - luckily in the UK we invariably don't have that problem and we can ask for an unlocked phone from the get-go.

If it's TMO who are the problem, then have you considered getting your phone unlocked so you can keep it and take it to any contract? See the link below for how to get your phone unlocked - there are others who provide this completely legal service.

Yes, download and install Desktop Manger 4.2 sp1 and then you can use the sync function to configure a sync with Outlook for your contacts. Post back if you need more help with this.

That worked seamlessly, I don't know why I didn't figure that out on my own, lol.

    Thank you very much, Gary

Swiss - I didn't think about it trying to take the phone to another carrier, but the ones that I know would be compatible don't have attractive plans, ie ATT/Cingular. But I'm definitely going to check out the link. I'm sure after I go through my black berry withdrawals I'll be back somewhere!

    hi

if you want to unlock your phone, tmobile will do it for you for free as long as you have been with them for more than 3 months, i called and asked them about this 2 days ago and they said they can do it, so if you do thinking of going to another gsm provider check into that, i think im going to get them to unlock mine regardless.
