email problem after OS upgrade
Last night I upgraded my Pearl OS using the sticky thread above for guidance. All went well except for a problem with my email. I have multiple email accts on my Pearl. Previously, when I'd get a new email for account X, the icon for account X would have a little red flag thing to show which account has new email. Since the OS upgrade, now when I get an email for any account, I see the little yellow letter showing there is new email, but none of the accounts have the red flag on their icon. So I have to visit each icon or else go to the All Mail icon to read it. I'm hoping there's just a simple setting that didn't get configured right but I can't seem to find it....anyone know how to fix it?
Open the email folder in question and hit Menu - General Options
Scroll down and see if Display New Message Indicator is set to YES.
Try deleting and resending service books also that may resolve it for you. Maybe even a battery pull.
GaryF - Yes, it is configured to "Yes" for displaying the new Message Indicator
Mark - how do I delete/resend the service books?
Also, there actually was an issue after I upgraded the OS. My browser totally disappeared. I mean the icon and everything. I managed to go into one of the menus on the settings list and ran a test to the server and then it all came back, leaving me with the email problem.
I found an older thread with info on deleting/resending the service books. I did that, and also pulled the battery. Still don't get the message indicator flag when new email is received.
As a side note, I added a new email account on my blackberry and sent it mail. The flag showed up for that icon. So I logged onto the account maint page for Verizon, deleted one of my accounts that is having the problem, and then re-added it. But still it doesn't have the flag set when email is received. I called Verizon but they were of no help.
That is a wierd one. Usally deleteing the SBs or the Accounts form your provider site fixes it. I have seen issues where a reinstall has to be done right after an upgrade. If you Sync do a sync then re-upgrade with out a back up and restore. or you can do a selective back up. and a selective restore after the reinstall. This is the one I do, I do that more then sync lol. But the main thing is to make sure to go to advanced in the install and select "Remove all currently installed apps" and then don't let it do a back up on the next page.
I hope this helps

ok if you delete one of the email accounts and readd it, without sending the new service books to the device then you will still have the same problem. so try this. delete one of those email accounts on the BIS website. after it has been deleted, then click resend service books to the device.
I added a new email account on my blackberry and sent it mail. The flag showed up for that icon.
next go back to the BIS website and readd the email account and then resend the service books again. see if that works.
