    email intermediate storage?

    Hello,

I'm quite new using my BB8100.
My Operator is SFR (Vodafone in France).
I've setup the mail push system.
It works fine meaning that I can send and receive emails.

When I activate my dataService (to receive email), I receive all the emails that were in my mailbox, I mean emails :
    - that are new (since my last logging on my webmail)
    - that are already read on webmail. These emails were not pushed previously.
    - that are deleted. These emails were not pushed previously.

So, is the fetching email service synchronous or asynchronous?
If it can work synchronously (like imap mail browser) how can I set this up?

    Am I clear?

    A+

PS: i tried to find something in the forum but i did not see any thread about this apparently
PS2 : excuse my english for mispellings or mistakes, i'm a french guy ;-)

    Re: email intermediate storage?

    Dear French Guy....

I preface this by saying my experience is in USA so if France is different I may not be very helpful...

Just so we are clear...you are using Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) correct? What do you mean "when i activate my data service"? are you turning it on and off? If yes, why? So long as you are powered on and in an area that recieves data you should be getting your email with no additional action needed, and when you are down or out of range it will send the emails as you have described as soon as your service is avaialable. What else is it you are trying to do?

    Re: email intermediate storage?

    Hi,

    I use this BIS : mobileemail.vodafone.fr

The thing is that the amount of data that can be downloaded is very limited with my operator (5Mo max and then it's over taxed). As long as I'm in my office or at home I can access my email (via my PC). So I don't need to have my emails on my BB.
I want to use email push only if I can't access my emails on my PC. So I can turn "Data Service" on/off and not receive any notification.
The problem is that I will receive on BB all the emails since the last connection of BB to BIS service. In fact I'd just like to receive new email since my last connection on my PC.

    A+

    Re: email intermediate storage?

If you are using Outlook you can change your settings so it does not leave messages on the server. In most cases it will beat your BB to the emails and you will stop getting emails that your PC has. Then if you log off of Outlook when you leave the PC your BB will pick up only the new messages (and will leave them for your Outlook to also receive when you return).

May not be the best solution but its all I can think of and it should do the trick.

    Hi,

Ok, I see what you mean. I'm so into using imap mail browser that I forgot about pop email client ;-)
This might be the solution, even if it's not what I'm really looking for.
