    Email Help

    Hi Guys!!

New to the Blackberry, and very confused!!

I have had my refub pearl for a few months now. We bought them for the looks, not the BB functions. I have had a few problems with the phone and a JVM error. Thanks to this site, I am able to repair easily now (thanks again). Recently it became necessary for me to activate the BB services for the phone to receive email faster. Maybe I simply do not understand how things work, or most likely, I am making an error. My question is, can I sync my BB email, with outlook?

A couple of other comments - I tried installing the newer desktop manager software, but upon doing so my BB would not sync at all. It came up with a file error. Thus, I reinstall version 4.2.0.14. The unit syncs just fine with all my contacts, tasks, and calender stuff updating on either the phone, or outlook. However, the emails I have sent via the BB, do not download to outlook. Maybe this is not how it is supposed to work. It is critical that I save my email CYA you know. How then do I get my sent email from the BB to a folder in outlook. Also is it better to use outlook for my email, or outlook express.

    Thanks,

    Woody

    Re: Email Help

Your Blackberry email can be synced with Outlook either thru the Blackberry Enterprise Server (which is something your IT admin would setup), or thru desktop redirector (which can be downloaded from the carrier's website or RIM's website, but you might need to download something called mail connector as well). It sounds like your device isn't set up for wireless syncing. You might wanna talk to your IT admin. to set you up on the server. All he needs to do is verify an internet connection from your device and they can take it from there.

    Thanks for the reply!!

Unfortunately I am my IT guy!!

I will attempt to download the desktop redirector, and the mail connector. From what you have said, I simply have not completed all the steps necessary to sync email. I keep getting these emails from RIM saying do not delete. I am sure these will update if I get all the stuff set up.

    Thanks again,

    Woody

    Woody....

I would not necessarily suggest you install Redirector or Mail Connector based on your posts....

Please confirm a few more details of what you are trying to accomplish. As I read your post I am going to assume you have activated BIS with your carrier and you are receiving emails on your Blackberry, is this correct? You post that emails sent via Blackberry do not transfer to your Outlook Sent Folder on your desktop, correct? That is actually quite normal and I beleive that an easier solution exists...

If you go into your email set up screen on your carrier web site and edit your account you should see a BCC field. If you wish your outbound emails to appear on your desktop you can BCC yourself. If you do not wish these to appear on your BB as a new incoming email you can go into the FILTERS screen and filter out the address you use for outbound emails...

Please let us know if this is not the issue or sollution you are looking for.

So far as the new desktop manager questions....did you check the settings in the Sync>Configure tab? That would be the most likely suspect.

If you have access to Outlook Web Access, your email will sync up just fine.
