The only way I know of is to contact the carrier it was used on and ask them.

    Re: Ebay Pearl

I thought about going onto EBay to buy my Pearl but after having to return my first one because the camera froze the entire operating system, I am glad to say that I did not get it from a "as is" seller. There are just too many little things that could be wrong inside. There are service dealers that sell them on EBay very reasonable. I think that is the only way I would trust it. Just my opinion, of course...

Just ask the person 4 it. Tell him u wanna make sure it isn't stolen. If he is an honest eBayer he will understand your concern

Yea. I just recently sold my BB. If they really wanted to know what it was and they were already bidding I gave it to them. I sold mine "as-is" no warranty just because it was used and it wasn't in perfect condition. I guaranteed it could be activated on Sprint though and that is usually the selling point.

Just found a site that may help you identify if the phone is stolen or not (or active...) Check out:

Click on the red "Check Status Here" link and enter the number...if you've got it.

If it is a ebayer with a good background and lots of sales you can probably trust them that the info is accurate - the last thing a series seller wants is for you to advise ebay that they are selling stolen goods. I once bought a sprint wireless nestwork card on ebay and when I tried to activate it Sprint advised it was reported as stolen. When I contacted the seller he refunded my money AT ONCE. I would be very careful of a new seller with a mobile phone.
