i have it in a bowl rice with the battery too in a bowl under a light with a Tupperware bowl on top of it. I was running bath water for my son wasn't much in there believe it or not i was receiving a call while it was in the water so i picked it up as soon as i dropped it and answered my phone and it was working told my friend had to call her back immediately took out the battery and put it back in and it all still loaded up only thing was the flash for the camera would not shut off unless i was in camera mode... so then i got on here asap and found out i needed to dry it out take it apart and put it in rice so that is where it is at as of right now. Wonder how long should i leave it under the light. And will putting the battery in the rice help as well? Oh also there was not alot of water in it when i took it all apart!

No need just make sure you've dried of the outside. Batteries are sealed so no water got into to it. Once it's dried out a couple of days, if it works when you but the battery back in and then after charging it should be alright for quite awhile. And just remember any use after this is your good luck. You could be stuck with a dead BB right now.

well i have left the phone in a bowl of rice all night and i am gonna leave it in there all day today and put in the batt later this evening. It has been under a small light also. Hope that this has healed my phone and what really sucks is that i was going to buy a case at the mall the other day and was rushing so much i forgot had i gotten that case that would of never happened. So take it from me guys and get cases for these phones. And that would be 24 hrs in the rice when i put it back in.

i done the same. I left it drying on the window with the battery out and cover off. It took a while but came back, the speaker was the last to get back, it took 3 weeks.

I should come back just give it time to dry out fully, about 3 days

Yeah...that sucks!! i've only dropped one of my phones in water!! and it worked like a charm after it dried out (although it wasn't a BB)...And a case is always good!! I have a full covering Silicone Case and a Scratch proof screen protector!!...I wanna preserve my phone as best as I can!!

Well...good luck, I hope the phone operates perfectly after all this!!

I would not rush this. Honestly 24 hours seems too short a time. I have had 2 phones (on BB and one other) that got wet and in both cases it was more like 2 or 3 days before the phone was dry. What you need to remember is that POWER is your enemy here. If there is moisture in the phone the battery can cause additional damage.

I agree 24 hours is not enough time. Leave it for 2-3 days at least. If you do it too early your running a big risk of your phone not working for good (electronics and water dont mix well at all). The longer you wait and let it completely dry out the better your shot of getting it working correctly.

Just the waiting is worth it... Try not to be overcome by Crackberry withdrawals eh? You know the shakes and the imagined alert sounds...?

I have dropped a few 8700's in watter and both are working to this day without issue whatsoever. Completely submerged altogether. Take the battery out, put on top of a register or heater for a day or two and it should be fine.

Well i am back to say that my phone has been up and working since Friday night! So far so good. Everything seems to be working just as good *knock on wood* anyways thanks for all the support. I am glad to have my baby back..hahaha..anyways i have another question. When i opened up my phone and i guess from it sitting in the rice..im not sure but anyways its all dusty inside and especially on the front screen. How would i go about cleaning that out i already tried opening it up and wiping the screen but that was before i let it dry out and now its all dusty.
