Downgrading from OS 4.2.1.66 to .71

How do I downgrade to .71 without losing everything? Does anyone know of a smooth way to do this? I previously had Cingular .71 installed, and then I upgraded to TIM 1.66.

It seems that I find bugs in the new OS during every use-of-phone session. I've had the phone tone not turn off at the end of the call -- had to pull battery. Then, I would dial and nothing would happen, no sound. It would connect but cannot hear anything -- had to pull battery. Random Java exceptions that ended up locking up the phone -- had to pull battery. Google Maps crashed miserably locking up the phone -- had to pull battery. Some people mentioned significant speed increase -- not sure about that -- normal operations do not seem any faster, and Texas Hold'em King 2 is definately slower.

Any help in downgrading to .71 would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~sure. What you want to do is get the OS that you want and install it on you pc. Then go in and remove all the other BB OS. Then you just plug in your BB. It should ask you if you want to downgrade. Click yes or whatever. That should be it. Everything you had on there should be safe. It'll back everything up on your blackberry and then restore it when the process is done. Hope this helps.

Go into the Control Panel and into Add/Remove programs .. click on the BB OS installs you want to remove and remove them. The BB OS that is left will be installed on your Pearl next time you start Apploader.

Success. I reverted back to .73 and it's stable and reliable. With the TIM release I had the uncomfortable feeling of running a rushed Alpha release.

    Reddog, thank you!

That just started happening to me. Would even happen during phone calls. All of a sudden I would still be connected but no sound in or out. Tried it with the phone, bluetooth handsfree and wired handsfree, same problem with all three.

I just went back to .71 to see if everything goes back to normal.

    Hi all,

I'm looking to downgrade back to .71 or .73. Does anyone have the link to the downloads, as I couldn't find them on the search function...

    cheers,

    Ben
