    The BB Browser is always open and waiting for Push events, just like Messages, BB Messenger, if installed, the Phone App and the Home Screen. It uses a little power, but I wouldn't say it runs down the battery. I can't say anything about Opera, as I don't use it.

    I believe that you have to close the Opera Browser (it will close). With regards to how much juice does it use while open in the background, not exactly sure. It's always good practice to close apps that are not in use to conserve battery power.
