especially when the damn thing doesn't realize that you're hitting the * and phone key repeatedly as you get frusturated that the damn thing is "thinking" and not recognizing the keypress.

I can't post URLs yet, but go to geekandproud.net/blackberry/autolock/autolock.jad

It activates the keyguard when the backlight automatically turns off.

On the install, you have to run it, and it will appear that nothing happens. It will just exit, and not show up in the application switcher, but it's running. It will autorun on startup, so you only have to do that the when you first install.

My eventual plan is to not have an icon at all, and just have an enable/disable in the options menu.

thanks metsfan! this is awesome! i stopped using the tote and started using just the skin...so i was having to keylock it constantly with the *
this is GREAT! you should post this in the downloads! and the last statement is true! there's no icon, no autorun...it just happens! the settings are in options now! LOVE THIS APP!

Re: does the 8100 have an autolock function

I still don't have the ten posts required to post URLs or send PMs... someone PM'd me requesting an option to not lock the keys if you're on a call. There's an option (in Options->AutoLock) for that now. Also, to not lock if it's plugged in, and a bunch more options for how long to wait.

A great program! The OS developers surely overlooked this useful nugget! Many thanks!

You can download the zip file to your desktop. Unzip and then use Desktop Manger>application loader. Browse to the unzipped folder containing the alx program and hit add. It is all pretty much automatic from there.
