    Do I need BES?

I just got a new laptop and thanks to jonesjj...was able to use my 8100 as a tethered modem. My question is do I need BES to access my tmo.blackberry.net email address on Outlook? I don't know how that works, I never thought I'd need BES.

    Thanks!

It's my understanding that the xxx.blackberry.net email addresses are only accessable via the BlackBerry. There is no POP or IMAP support.

Due to this, I don't give it out to people. Plus, if I ever give up my BlackBerry, I'd have to have everyone update my address. In my opinion, better to give out the most perminant address available which for mr is my own domain email.

Good points. That makes sense. I can just use Gmail then. I figured since you can use BES for corporate accounts, why not get your BB email on Outlook. Thanks.

GMail is a great option. Plus, it works really well with the Blackberry!
    As always, just my opinion...
