    Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

So what is going to be the big differences between the 8100 and 8120 for T-Mobile? Just the GPS? Can someone tell me if the 8100 has the following?

    - Multi-Media Player
    - Bluetooth
    - Camera
    - Video Recording
    - WiFi

What have been the negatives on the 8100? Should I wait for the 8120? I am still trying to decide if I want the Curve or Pearl.

Re: Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

The 8100 does have a multi-media player, bluetooth, camera although of lower quality than the 8120 should have, no video recording of yet since the new OS hasn't come out yet to allow it to do that, and sadly it does not have either WiFi or GPS. I have had the Pearl 8100 and now have the Curve 8320 and I like the Curve a lot better than the Pearl because of the keyboard and size.

You have to think how you are going to use your blackberry. I would wait for the 8120 if you are interested in a real portable blackberry that includes GPS and WiFi but if you do not care about size or GPS then the Curve 8320 would be my choice but then again I have a biased opinion since I already own an 8320. Good luck trying to decide but I wouldn't get the 8100 when the 8120 and 8320 are much better options.

Yeah and since 8120 already have Bluetooth, you can get both the wifi (built-in I think) and GPS via Bluetooth GPS puck.

So 8120 is defidently better than the 8100 since you will have a much better potential of higher functions.

I'm not too fond of WiFi....but the built in GPS is kool, but I'm happy with my 8100.....

But what I really want is
    -Video Recording
    -A2DP Support

    Everything else is...eh!

Re: Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

    Thanks everyone. What is A2DP?

So, the 8100 is out of the picture for me based on the feedback. However, I am unclear on something...Is the 8120 expected to have Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, Camera and Video Recording (after software update)?

The Curve doesn't have GPS, but the Bluetooth GPS Puck can be used or Google Maps, right? Curve has Wi-Fi and Camera? Any negatives on the Curve?

The 8120 is an 8320 with Suretype. Almost an identical feature list for both phones. There is no GPS in either unit. The 8110 and 8310 have GPS but no wi-fi.

A2DP is stereo bluetooth (in simple terms). It is the requirement to be able to stream audio over bluetooth. Yes there are other ways to do this but A2DP is designed for it.

Re: Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

I love my 8100 it has lots to offer. Never the less I'm waiting for delivery of a 8120. For two reasons. Firstly it's a newer more upto date pearl with a better feeling keys and wifi and secondly it's a free Blackberry as I'm renewing my service contract.

My 8100 pearl has served me well, it's a great phone and as I own two I've no intention of leaving them.
As far as I can make out the 8120 can:
    Take 8GB memory and more
Has a better camara , later firmware, slightly more heavy (which I like)and of course has wifi.

Re: Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

Looking at the options of getting a Wi-Fi enabled 81xx or a GPS enabled 81xx I am trying to determine the real benefit of having Wi-Fi on a phone of this form factor. I could understand if it was a Windows based OS or on a much larger screen for true computer like surfing, but on a Pearl?

I would like some feedback from those using a Wi-Fi version of the Pearl and why you see it as a benefit.

I currently have an 8100 and have been able to play extensively with an 8130 w/ GPS. Now that I am looking to upgrade my 8100 to either a GPS enabled or Wi-Fi enabled model, I'm looking to know more about the benefits of each.

Why choose Wi-Fi over GPS or vice-versa.

    Thanks in Advance.

Re: Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

As crazy as it sounds, the first question you probably should be asking is what carrier do you want to go with?
If you want to go with a CDMA carrier, the wi-fi option isn't available.

Also remember that you can always add GPS through a bluetooth connection to a wi-fi enabled phone but you can never add wi-fi to a GPS enabled unit.

Re: Differences Between 8100 and 8120?

I've just got my 8120 and well all I can say is OMG its incredible ! The good points NO! The great points are both the build quality and new os. It really feels like a new BB ! The only bad point and this is being picky but the prefer the track ball on my 8100 as on the 8120 trackball slightly smaller. Yes I know sad but well lol. If anyone want the good and bad of the 8120 ping me on 2538703E
Oh and the difference between GPS and wifi ? GPS can be got by a puck. Wifi is newish and can't be carried out with a puck. The wifi make wap surfing faster than your pc!!!
